COVID-19 Customer Letter
Dear Valued Customer, We would like to share with you the Universal Site Services’ approach and response to COVID-19. First and foremost, as we’re sure you are, we are fully dedicated to the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, their families, and our business partners.
An additionally important message is, USS lines of service work are considered “Necessary Essential Services” and falls within the guidelines put into effect on March 17th in the Bay Area by state regulation.
Item c. of the code regarding essential needs indicates: “For purposes of this Order, individuals may leave their residence to provide any services or perform any work necessary to the operations and maintenance of “Essential Infrastructure,” including, but not limited to, public works construction, construction of housing (in particular affordable housing or housing for individuals experiencing homelessness), airport operations, water, sewer, gas, electrical, oil refining, roads and highways, public transportation, solid waste collection and removal, internet, and telecommunications systems (including the provision of essential global, national, and local infrastructure for computing services, business infrastructure, communications, and web-based services), provided that they carry out those services or that work in compliance with Social Distancing Requirements as defined this Section, to the extent possible.” At Universal Site Services, debris collection & sanitation which consists of Parking Lot Sweeping, Landscaping, Dayporter and Pressure Washing Services are essential to the public health. The support of these teams complies with the order from the health officers of these counties. We have adjusted our operations to follow the set rules of social distancing, eliminating group communications and implemented aggressive disinfection procedures throughout our customers sites as well as our internal support functions.
Rest assured, USS is making certain that all our management teams & infrastructure functions are in place to support you, and the service delivery, just as they would be on any normal day.
Day porter / Janitorial Services: Custodial Services are by far the most important due to disinfection procedures needed throughout properties/sites on high touch surfaces in order to prevent further germs from spreading. We will continue with our previously scheduled services and routes with emphasis of our onsite scopes of work concentration of disinfecting and wiping down door handles, handrails, garbage can lids and high traffic areas. We will continue with litter control while on site but at a lessor important focus. Any additional costs associated from chemical usage will be brought to your attention and charged accordingly.
Parking Lot Sweeping: Sweeping Service is vital for debris collection so that centers/properties do not attract rodents and sites do not get inundated with trash and debris that potentially spread additional diseases. If a change of frequency occurs upon ramping back up to normal frequencies, we have several options:
- We can offer a one time clean up fee and dispatch a larger crew to clean your site and get it to baseline
- We can divide your site up and over several services detail out sections until the site is back to baseline
Landscaping: These services are important to the well-being of the centers as for policing garbage and debris. Plants will not stop growing during this time. We are practicing social distancing with our reduced landscaping crews and will ensure services offered will keep your sites at acceptable levels of service.
Pressure Washing Services: Washing is a great form of sanitation and with all the restaurants open it is very needed to keep the germs from growing and so the washing includes utilizing disinfectant. We recommend contacting your Account Manager to arrange for more pressure washing to disinfect high traffic areas with EPA approved soaps and hot water.
